Planting Vegetation on Problematic and Extremely Difficult Soils

The results of the uncontrolled exhaustive cultivation of the past decades as well as the needs of the modern industrial society frequently make high demands on the professional planting of vegetation in intensely stressed landscapes - a planting which is to be beneficial to site, too. It is a challenge and task to execute planting vegetation on devasted sites, which are to a large extent poor in vegetation and mold, as quickly as possible by means of specific seeding techniques and to protect them against erosion and further degradation by procedures of engineering biology. By applying adequate seeds and the necessary additives, a vital, dense vegetation is established and an effective, long-term erosion control is achieved.

The erosion control effect of seeding techniques usually is reduced to the surface and the rooted soil horizon close to the surface. Combined with bioengineering measures, a lasting erosion control can be provided, which also includes deeper soil layers. All the projects performed by recu-systems are based on a thorough soil and site analysis to enable the selection of the best suited and site-adapted application. Specially trained, highly motivated experts, the most sophisticated techniques and our long international experience make us a competent partner for all challenges of site revegetation.

Detailed Soil Analyses (in Particular in Cases with Contaminated Sites)

Before starting hydroseeding, a measurement of soil-pH and the analysis of further parameters relevant for the environment may be required, if necessary, to develop an optimal seeding formulation. Soil analyses require the knowledge on and use of appropriate methods (e.g. extraction procedures) and corresponding experience in the interpretation of soil-chemical values for plant growth. For our customers, we can provide results of the most important analysis parameters within approximately 8 days.

Hydroseeding on Raw Soils

When establishing vegetation on extreme sites,  hydroseeding (spray application) has proven especially successful, even if indigenous and autochthonous seed is used (Heudrusch®- and hay-mulch method). Seeds and miscellaneous additives can be sprayed on the area to be seeded in one working process. When seeding large areas, the vast spraying ranges of our aggregates of up to 60 m turn to account.

Conventional Seeding

Contrary to hydroseeding, conventional or dry seeding is carried out only in areas which have an arable soil and can be reached easily by vehicles. This procedure, too, requires  thorough site analyses to be able to select the appropriate seed blend. Fields of applications are e.g. training areas, airports, waterways, landfills, golf courses and parks.
